News and notes from around the Big Ten conference this past week

The week of May 24th – 30th is in the books and we’re ever closer to the start of college football. Many details about game times came out this past week, and teams are ready to roll when the recruiting dead period ends June 1st.

As always, we have transfer news that was reported last week, and some contract extension news.

Michigan State & Northwestern: The 2021 season opener has been moved to Friday, September 3rd.

Illinois: The Fighting Illini continue to prepare for June with another visit scheduled, this time offensive tackle Matt Fries will visit June 25th.

Ohio State: The top ranked recruit for 2021 has set his visit schedule for June, with the Buckeyes firmly in the middle of those plans.

Penn State: PSU athletic financial report came out, showing state of the program right as Covid-19 began impacting universities.

Wisconsin: 2021 signee Braelon Allen will switch his position to running back.

Minnesota:The Golden Gophers announced five start times for the coming season.

Michigan: The Wolverines and OC Josh Gattis have agreed to a contact extension of one year.

Purdue: Former Marshall receiver, Broc Thompson, has transferred to the Boilermakers.

Nebraska: The Cornhuskers have six game times set for the upcoming season.

Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights announced kickoff times for the first six games of their schedule.

Maryland: Tight end Kameron Blount is leaving the program and entering the transfer portal.

Indiana: Former Texas A&M receiver Camron Buckley is transferring to the Hoosiers.

Iowa: The Hawkeyes have announced kickoff times for seven games for this upcoming season.
